Adam took advantage of his half day at work, and fished all Friday afternoon with a friend. He caught a few bass and was loving his new reel (from me) and pole (that he gifted himself).
After work, I hung out with Chester and watched the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics. Seeing London made me so excited to be there in under 2 months! I thought the Opening Ceremony was a little too theatrical and weird though.
I stayed up late making brownie cream cheese cupcakes, followed by margarita cupcakes for the party.
Saturday was our annual Summer/Birthday Party.
To prepare, we did some more garden and patio weeding in the morning. Then we got the yard waste bagged, and Adam dropped it off at the nearby city compost site. We love how handy it is! Next he was off to the grocery store for a few last minute items and ice.
Back at home, I was cleaning and picking up. We did a deep clean on the house, and I was super grossed out by how much Chester fur I found. Yuck.
Then we got our food and drinks ready.
Friends started arriving around 6. My friend from home, Laura, came up with her fiance. It was so nice of them to make the trip up and fun to see them. Plus, they asked me to be in their wedding next June, which is super exciting!
She even gave me some pretty sparkly earrings for my birthday, which I put on right away because they matched my outfit!
It was a beautiful evening to be outside. We got so lucky!
Everyone's looking at Chester, eating grass and being a pain.
We had lots of snacks and Adam grilled homemade Jucy Lucy's and hot dogs.
I also made pasta pesto salad, Adam made guac, another friend named Laura brought some homemade bean salsa, and we also had watermelon with blueberries, chips & dip, veggies & dip. No one was going home hungry!
I even made some tasty white wine sangria, which turned out really well for my first attempt! So refreshing!
I'm very glad so many people were able to make it because summer's are so hectic and busy! It was so much fun to see everyone and hang out. If parties weren't so much work and money, I'd have them all the time!
On Sunday we had planned to go fishing, but it was rainy all morning and by the afternoon we were feeling lazy. We enjoyed the day lounging at home and watching the Olympics with Chester.
I love summer weekends with friends!
