Weekend Recap: Laura Visits, Stillwater, and Chester's Adoption Day

We had a fun weekend in the cities with friends.

On Friday we went over to Adam's friend Zack's house where we enjoyed a fire in the backyard with some friends. It was the perfect night for a fire and was nice to see everyone. We didn't stay too late though because Adam worked on Saturday morning.

Saturday my friend since 5th grade (!) Laura came for a visit. We decided to spend the day in Stillwater. She had never been before and I had only been there once before back in 2008. It was a gorgeous day, albeit a little warm at times.

We enjoyed lunch on the deck of the Freight House Restaurant with a great view of the St. Croix River. It was a great spot and the food was good as well.

Then we wandered along the main street and did some shopping. There were a lot of neat antique shops. I especially enjoyed one that had furniture on the entire third floor. Usually you can't find that much antique furniture in one spot. I saw so many pieces I liked. I wish I had a bottomless pocketbook and a HUGE house to put all of it!

It was starting to get a bit warm, so we got some ice cream and then walked down to the river walk. We sat and enjoyed the nice view and watched boats go by for a while.

Next we headed to Roseville where we went to the mall, stopped at JoAnn Fabrics, and Target. We ended our day getting dinner at Cosetta's in downtown St. Paul. Yum!

When we returned home, Chester was very excited to see us as Adam had been with some friends all day. We took Chester for a walk and then had some girl talk.

On Sunday, we celebrated Chester's first adoption day! I can't believe the little guy has been part of our family for a year now. We love him so.

There was a lot of snuggling, walks, and playing. We didn't want to leave him home alone on his adoption day, so we just hung around the house all day. Adam did work in the morning though. It was a nice relaxing family day to end the weekend.

Chester also got his Fugly Friend Nester as his gift. He seems to love Nester, though he does play a little rough with him... Hopefully he lasts a while.

I love it Dad!
I didn't get many photos of him getting his gift because I managed to rub jalepeno oils from dinner into my eye and couldn't see out of it. Oh, the pain!
