Foodie Friday: Minnesota State Fair Edition

Today I bring you a very special edition of Foodie Friday featuring the culinary delights we enjoyed at the Minnesota State Fair last weekend.

1. Wild Rice Cheeseburger (Stef)
This is my favorite thing to get at the Fair. I've had one every year since I first went to the fair back in 2007.

2. Deep Fried Slider on a Stick (Adam, Christine)
Adam and Christine were looking forward to getting this the most. They both got one last year and loved it. It was a hit again this year.

3. Beer (Adam)
Always one of Adam's favorites :)

4. Sweet Corn Ice Cream (Stef, Christine) with honey butter bacon topping for Stef
I thought this sounded disgusting, but there was a good review for it online so I thought I'd try it. I went all in and had mine with the hot topping of honey butter bacon. Surprisingly, Christine also wanted one (the plain version). We were both surprised at how yummy it was!

5.  Deep Fried pickles (All)
Adam and I get them every year. They are delicious. Though we agreed we like our homemade version better.

6. Rootbeer (Stef, Christine)
You can't go wrong with rootbeer!

7. Hawaiian Shaved Ice (Stef, Christine)
Watermelon for Stef, Raspberry for Stine
Stine and I both love shaved ice. The watermelon was a little different than I was expecting, but still good and very refreshing. Christine liked hers as well.

8. Pronto Pup (Adam)
Adam gets one every year. The difference between a Pronto Pup and corn dog is all in the batter. The Pronto Pup batter is wheat based instead of corn.

9. Garlic fries (All)
Every year I walk by these, and every year I think they smell delicious. Finally we tried an order this year. . They were a little different than I expected. The garlic was just a topping. They were good, but with so many other fair foods to try, I don't think I'd get them again.

10. Beer (Adam)
Adam said his beer went well with the garlic fries.

11. Fresh Squeezed Lemonade (Stef)
Very refreshing. I always have to get lemonade at the fair.

12. Deep Fried Mac & Cheese on a Stick (Christine)
This was one of Christine's favorites from the day.

13. Bucket of Sweet Martha's Cookies (All & took home)
Christine insisted we get a bucket of Sweet Martha's Cookies to eat and take back to mom. At $15 a bucket, it seems steep but they really pile them in. We ate a ton of them before we could even get the lid on!

It was full, and then she just kept piling them on. Yum!

14. Dairy Barn Treats - Chocolate Malt for Adam, Blackberry Malt and a white milk for Stine
It's a tradition of ours to get a treat from the Dairy Barn as we leave. This year I was too full, but Adam had his usual chocolate malt and Christine enjoyed a blackberry malt. She also got some milk to drink with her cookies.

Sadly, I didn't eat very much at the fair. Even though the wild rice burger is my favorite thing to get, it sure is filling. I may need to start forgoing it if I want to try other things. I can't wait for the fair next year!
