Trip Out West Part 2: Day 5 at Glacier NP

Part Two: In which we are reunited with hot showers, drive across the state of Montana to Glacier National Park and sleep in a beautiful historic lodge with no elevators (3rd floor room hooray) or televisions (oh the horror).

Sorry for the lack of blog post last night. We were gone taking Chester to Rochester to meet my mom and sister who are watching him for the weekend. We'll also be gone this weekend, so this rather extensive trip recap may just take another week and 5 more parts to complete. Something to look forward to, eh?

Day 5 - Monday, August 1:

It was our last morning at the cabins and we got up early to pack up and head out. We were on the bikes by 7:20 on our way to the cars. We had taken some of our belongings back on the four wheelers the day before, so leaving wasn't as bad as arriving and only required one trip. We met up in Havre where we all took hot showers (wow, those felt good!), grabbed a quick lunch and some more supplies. Then we were finally off to Glacier! From the cabins to Havre it was about a 2 hour drive, and then 3 more hours to Glacier. On the way we passed through a little town named Chester. It made us really miss our little puppy!

We arrived in East Glacier at 4:15 and checked out the lodge. Then the group split up as our family spent the night at the Glacier Park Lodge and everyone else camped in the park.

The lodge was beautiful and a lot of fun. Adam and I really enjoyed relaxing in the peace and quiet of the lodge. Once we brought all our bags in, we sat on the veranda of my mom and dad's room and enjoyed the view out front. Then we sat out on the back balcony of the lodge and had a cold beverage while enjoying the view of the mountains.

Later, we had dinner together in the original dining room of the hotel. After dinner, we watched the sun set and then Christine and I had blueberry pie with huckleberry ice cream in the lounge. It was delicious!!

Sunset
It was the perfect evening at Glacier with my family and husband.
