New Over-the-range Microwave Installed!

After about 3 weeks of the giant box sitting in our kitchen, Adam installed our new Kenmore Elite over-the-range microwave with his dad's help. My version of helping was taking Chester for a walk while they worked on it (where he barked wildly at a very large dog we encountered... dummy).

We had narrowed it down between this one and an Electrolux. We ended up going with this one because it had better reviews, a strong exhaust fan, and we liked it's clean look without a handle sticking out. We also really liked that it didn't have a bunch of stupid presets like "chicken nuggets" and "soften ice cream." We never use those, and they just make the display look cluttered. 

Adam likes it because you can open it from either side....

He's easily impressed.

We're really excited about this microwave because now our stainless kitchen is complete and we're done buying appliances for a while (we hope anyway!). When we bought the house, all that came with in the kitchen was an outdated white refrigerator. There was just a hole for the oven, dishwasher, and over the range microwave. We bought our gas oven right away, but didn't get around to the dishwasher until last March. Then, last fall we replaced the very inefficient and ugly white fridge with a Fisher & Paykel, which we love. This microwave was the last piece we needed. I'm really looking forward to having more counter space now that we can reclaim the corner currently housing the counter microwave.
