Once again on Friday it felt like we were sleeping in
because of the time change. We left the room by 9:15, and headed down to Pike
Place to grab a small breakfast at Piroshky Piroshky. We split a fresh rhubarb
piroshky and Adam grabbed a coffee from a vendor.
Then we took the Pike Market stairs down to the waterfront
and the Seattle Aquarium.
We arrived at 9:45, 15 minutes after it opened so it
wasn’t too crowded yet. That is until a large tour group invaded, so we just
went further into the museum and made plans to come back to that area later. We
saw colorful sea anemone,
puffins,
Puget Sound fish,
salmon,
harbor seals,
northern fur seals, sea otters,
river otters,
coral reef fish,
jellyfish,
and a giant
Pacific octopus.

I also stuck my hand in the Touch Pool and felt creatures such
as starfish and anemone. It was pretty cool.

I really enjoyed all
the displays at the aquarium, especially the seals and otters!
Leaving the aquarium, we walked along the harbor.

And then we saw
Glen Perkins walking by with his family, probably on their way to the aquarium.
I joked to Adam, “Which Twins pitcher will we see next?”
For lunch, we went to The Crab Pot. It’s a pretty tourist-y
place, but I thought it was a lot of fun. For drinks, Adam got a liter (!) of
beer, and I got a delicious Mango Madness drink.
We ordered the Westport Sea
Feast for two which came with Dungeness crab, snow crab, shrimp in the shell,
steamed clams, Pacific mussels, Andouille sausage, corn on the cob and
potatoes. They poured it on butcher paper on the table, and we were given bibs,
a board, and wooden mallets to eat it. The pounding was a little obnoxious, but
it was efficient.
Next, we wandered down to the ferry station on Pier 52 to
take the 1:10 ferry to Bainbridge Island. This adventure was more about the
ferry ride than the actual destination.

We arrived at Bainbridge at 2, and walked into Winslow for some ice cream. Mr. I-don’t-eat-sweets had a chocolate sundae and I had Irish Coffee ice cream in a waffle cone. It was refreshing!
There wasn't much else to see in Bainbridge, so we walked down to the marina, and then along the shore.
We took the 3:50 ferry back to Seattle arriving around 4:30. From there it was about a mile walk over to Safeco Field.
