Friday after work I stopped by Ikea to pick up a few items like new chair cushions for the porch. Adam brought the work truck home filled with mulch. We didn't have much time to relax before it was off to meet some of Adam's friends before the Twins game. Jason and Tracy were in town from Chicago, and we hadn't seen them since their wedding the month after ours. Way too long! They was a group of people going to the game together, but we already had tickets from Adam's parents so we just met up for a drink. As we were walking to the game, at 7, we were alerted by an app on our phones that it was in a rain delay. UGH. It was barely raining. As we stood outside the gates figuring out what to do, we ran into some other friends of Adam's, Sarah and David. So the four of us went to Hubert's to get something to eat/drink and wait out the rain delay. Which ended up being 2 hours! I'm so glad we didn't go early to the game as we would have been stuck inside (no readmission once you leave).
The game finally started at 9, so we made our way over.
By 10:30, I was exhausted. We left at midnight, which was only somewhere in the 7th inning. Poor Chester was home alone for quite some time...
Saturday was yard work day, which we had been dreading all week. We had been collecting yard waste for a while
(remember this pile?),
And needed to take it to the local compost site that accepted "woody" items. But first, we had to empty the truck bed of mulch, which meant spreading it. We put mulch around our new raspberry canes in the back and around the hydrangeas in the front. It looks much better and will hopefully help keep the weeds under control.
We ended up having to make 2 overflowing trips to the compost site, so luckily it was less than a mile away. Good to know!
After our two trips, we relaxed for a bit before heading to Linder's Nursery. Linder's was doing a special over the weekend where 15% of your pre-tax dollars spent where donated to the MN Pug Rescue (where we adopted Chester from), so we wanted to participate. We picked out flowers for our mom's, a few flowers for me, tomatoes, and jalepenos. Sadly, Adam wouldn't let me buy the rose bush I wanted though. He said I need to work on keeping the ones I have alive first. Haha! I think they'll come back... the winter was just hard on them.
That evening, Chester and I spent some time in the yard while I planted the rest of the raspberry canes & jalepenos in the planters, and Adam grilled dinner.

Sunday was Mother's Day. I woke up to Chester kisses and a card that Adam had helped him make. I am a puppy mom after all! Then we went over to Adam's parents at noon to celebrate.
We brought Bloody Mary stuff and they had some yummy fixings to add to them like pickled asparagus, beef sticks, and garlic stuffed olives. YUM! We also brought Adam's famous artichoke and jalepeno dip with pita.
For lunch, we had salad and delicious savory crepes. There were two kinds - grilled corn and lobster, and smoked gouda mushroom. The mushroom ones were AMAZING. Adam's not a mushroom guy though, so he wasn't as impressed.
That evening we spent relaxing at home and watching the series finale of Desperate Housewives. Sad day.
It was such a fun weekend and even thought it was a lot of work, it felt great to get so much yard work done!
