You may be surprised to find out that there are some things going on in our world not directly related to our kitchen revamp. Crazy.
Travel Updates
- Boston
On Friday, after watching fares for a while and deciding they would only go up much more for a direct flight, I just booked them. Have I mentioned lately how much I love direct flights?
Fittingly, our tickets arrived on Saturday for our 2 Twins vs. Red Sox games at Fenway. This is when I discovered this year celebrates 100 years of Fenway. Kind of cool.
- London/Paris/Dublin
I discovered that the Paralympic Games will be going on when we had planned to be in London around Labor Day. I've seen estimates that between 1.5-2 million "extra" people are expected to be in London. They run from Aug 29-Sept 9. We had planned to be in London Aug 31-Sept 4. Bummer....
Our reasoning for going then was to take advantage of Labor Day (using one less vacation day), end of summer so less tourists but still nice weather, and we were free.
So now we have three choices
A. Go at that time anyway. Deal with the bigger crowds, many tourists, crowded transportation and more expensive hotels
B. Go the end of May over Memorial Day - less crowds but airfare is more expensive and we have less time to plan
C. Go later in September - lower airfare, less crowds but not as great of weather and we'd miss Oktoberfest in La Crosse
Decisions, decisions...
Other Updates
- Chester
Nothing really new here, but he's extra cute and extra chunk. Is it possible that he gets cuter everyday? I think I'm in love with him.
- Kitchen
What blog post would be complete lately without a kitchen work recap-
Day 10:
1. Flip over lower cabinet doors, paint coat #1 on the fronts (done by Adam)
2. Install dimmer switch on chandelier over sink (also done by Adam)
3. Go to Sherwin Williams and get a paint sample of Misty. Declare it to be a complete rip-off at $7. Seven bucks? Really? Just to put a little paint on my wall to see if I like it? The containers they put them in are much too large. I want to paint a small square, not the whole room. And aren't they like $3 at Home Depot?
4. Paint said paint sample onto the kitchen walls. Decide it looks much too light (almost white instead of silver/grey). Tell Adam we'll have to wait until the subway tile is up to decide on paint color (as originally planned).
