Day 17 or When will we be done?

Last night, I repeatedly asked myself, "Will we ever be done?" This I was thinking as I chopped olives for our pasta dinner on a cutting board balanced on top of the stove. Our countertops are in the midst of being waterloxed, our kitchen bar table is full of our supplies, and our dining room table is full of the contents of our counters and drawers. I had nowhere else.

Day 17 (Monday):
1. Install faucet and sprayer

2. Re-attach lower cabinet doors

3. Install hardware knobs on cabinet doors
(all before I even got home from work)
This beauty greeted me when I walked in the back door
4. Bring up cabinet drawers, measure, and determine optimal pull position
Not impressed that I was taking another photo
5. Remove drawer faces and install some of the hardware pulls (very frustrating due to the notching required to make them flush).
Cup pulls are on! I wasn't sure what I'd think, but LOVE
Sorry it's blurry, but you get the idea
 6. Waterlox layer #2 on countertops. Kill many brain cells when cleaning the brush.
After pulls were in and Waterlox #2 was on. Now imagine it with subway tile
instead of a poop brown stripe.  I'm in heaven.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Tonight Adam will be grilling dinner and we'll be having a picnic on the living room floor. Because as you recall, my dining room table looks likes this.

I won't have much for updates tomorrow as we plan on mostly taking a break from the kitchen. Of course I have a coat of Waterlox to put on, and Adam may do some more hardware installation.

We figure we're at least 75% done. That may be a little optimistic, but painting the cabinets and doing the counters were pretty big tasks. So what's left to do? Well.......
- install the subway tile backsplash
- put thin strip of silicone around the sink
- finish installing lower cabinet hardware
- apply a few more coats of Waterlox including the Satin finish
- Clean up and put everything away
I'm tired just thinking of it... But in the end, it will be completely worth it. I really did not like our kitchen before other than the appliances (I love those because we picked them all).

My fam is coming up to visit this weekend, so it's going to be a long week trying to get everything back in place and normal. I'm crossing my fingers that our house will be presentable.
