Foodie Friday: Penna a la Vodka

This week we were inspired by our delicious meal at Scusi on Saturday night. We adored the Vodka Rose sauce, so I looked up a few different recipes and we made some. It turned out really good. I didn't love it as much as the Scusi version, but it was still yummy. We used the last of our fresh tomatoes from the garden and lots of garlic. Maybe too much garlic? Then Adam used the immersion blender to make it smooth. It was delicious served on top of penne. We'll definitely be making it again.

We worked off of two different recipes to make our version and made a few tweaks as well.

- Used half and half instead of heavy cream because that's what we had and I was trying to be healthy. It could have been a little creamier though so we'll probably use heavy cream next time.
- Used fresh tomatoes instead of canned or marinara because we had some to use up.
- Used 1/2 cup vodka
- Skipped the bacon.
- Added some red pepper flakes for some spice

We should have made garlic bread for the side. That would have been awesome.
