Desaparecidos concert at First Ave

I've been feeling sick and kind of "meh" lately, so Adam surprised me when I got home from work Wednesday with "feel better" flowers. It was so sweet!

That night, Adam and I ventured downtown for a concert. It got a bit late as doors opened at 8 and the concert didn't start until 9. The band I wanted to see, Desaparecidos, didn't start until 10:15, well past Adam's bedtime.

Desaparecidos is a band I've loved since freshman year of college. I was introduced to them by my roommate, Laura. The lead singer is Conor Oberst from Bright Eyes, which is my favorite band besides The Beatles. I would describe Desaparecidos as indie rock. They recently reunited, and haven't had an album come out since 2002's Read Music/Speak Spanish. However, they've released a few singles in the past few years and said at the show that they had just spent 10 days in northern Minnesota writing 4 new songs.

The concert was excellent! I loved it. It was about an hour long, and they played everything off of Read Music/Speak Spanish plus a few other songs.

The setlist was:
Left Is Right
Underground Man
The Happiest Place on Earth
Manana Man and Wife, The Former (Financial Planning)
Mall of America
Backsell
Man and Wife, The Latter (Damaged Goods) Camila
Survival of the Fittest
$$$
Greater Omaha

Encore:
MariKKKopa
Anonymous
Hole in One

A big thanks to Adam for humoring me and going to the show especially since it got late for a week night.
