Weekend Recap: Wisconsin Dells

On Friday, we both got off work early, and headed down to Wisconsin Dells. We left the house at 3:30, and got there around 7 (we stopped to eat). Chester was already with Adam's fam. We are so lucky to have family willing to watch him! He's a lucky boy.

We were staying at The Wilderness with some friends to celebrate Russell's 30th birthday (husband of a good college friend of mine, Caitlin). After checking in, and taking our stuff up to the room,

we put on our swimsuits right away and headed down to the pool.

There are three different indoor water parks at The Wilderness. We went to the Klondike Kavern first, where we met up with Caitlin, Russell and another couple. First, we went around the lazy river a few times, followed by each of the double tube rides, and Adam went on the body slide. I usually hate body slides (I always get water up my nose), so I passed on that. Then we went on the Hurricane. I didn't know what to expect, but it was just like the Tornado at Great Wolf, except they weigh your group at the top (to make sure you're not over 650 lbs for safety) and it's a sharper drop. The website says it's a 58 foot drop before the funnel area. It was a long line (about 1/2 an hour), but worth the wait. So much fun!

Next, we all went in the hot tub and enjoyed the outdoor part. It was a cold night, so it was quite enjoyable. Then we walked over to the Wild Waterdome Park (about a 5 minute walk). It's the home of the nation's largest indoor wave pool. We went on the raft ride a few times, and then everyone else went back to the rooms. Adam and I stayed, and splashed around in the wave pool for a bit and then relaxed in the hot tub.

Back at the room, we changed and went next door to Caitlin and Russell's room, aka the "party room." Two more couples had arrived, so we all visited and snacked.

On Saturday, we couldn't sleep in, which was super depressing. Our room was on the second floor which happened to be the walkway everyone uses to go to the pool. Between all the loud children and adults, sleep just wasn't happening.

Adam and I then headed over to the Tanger Outlet Mall to do some shopping. We got quite a few things as well, as if I need any more clothes! On the way back to the hotel, we found a really nice liquor store where we got some New Glarus brews for Russell's b-day gift. We also grabbed lunch at BK.

We were back around 2, and went to the pool right away. This time we tried the Wild West Park which was on the opposite end of the hotel from us. It wasn't very busy, which we enjoyed. We had fun going down the raft ride a few times. There was a long line for "The Black Hole" toilet bowl slide, so we only went on that once. Plus, you could only ride with a single tube so it wasn't that fun. Then we enjoyed a cold beverage in the outdoor hot tub. I got a delicious strawberry daiquiri, and Adam snuck in some beer from the room.

Next, we headed over to the other parks to go on a few slides. Of course we went on The Hurricane again and enjoyed the hot tub.

Around 4:30, we went back to the room and cleaned up. We met everyone at 5:30, and all car pooled over to Moose Jaw for dinner. It was a half hour wait, so we took over the bar. I had a delicious Long Island Iced Tea, but I wish I would have ordered the Bloody Mary because it looked amazing!

For dinner, Adam and I split a pizza with pepperoni, jalepenos and artichoke hearts. It was quite good. And of course we all had to wear the Moose Jaw antlers. I wish I would have gotten a photo of the whole group!

We even wore them into the liquor store after (the same one Adam and I went to earlier). We had a few drinks in the room, and then part of the group went and played LazerTag. It was fun once I realized I was holding the gun backwards (ugh!). I felt like an idiot, but there was no explanation from the worker so I didn't feel that dumb...

Then everyone went and played the Wild Buccaneer 3D mini golf. It was only 9 holes, but pretty fun.

We split into groups of 4, and we were with Caitlin and Russell. Adam and Caitlin both got two hole-in-ones, I got one, and Russell didn't have any. But he still won! Caitlin and I tied for second. Poor Adam had some difficulty on the last hole...

I was pretty excited about my hole-in-one!

After, we all hung out in the party room for a while.

On Sunday, everyone went their separate ways. After check-out at 11, Adam and I went down to the pool for a few hours. We of course went on The Hurricane, as well as a few of the raft rides. The last thing we did was spend some time in the hot tub with cold beverages we snuck in. We had The Wilderness glasses though so didn't look out of place.

We grabbed Culver's on the way out of town, and listened to the Vikings-Packers game. Let's just say I was quite angry about it. Stupid Ponder.

Back in town, we picked up a very excited Chester.
It was a super fun weekend and I would definitely go back to The Wilderness, I would just avoid the second floor!!!
