Kansas City: Day 2

Saturday was our second day in Kansas City. After sleeping in, we ventured into the city to the Country Club Plaza which is a shopping area with lots of restaurants and interesting architecture. There we found a fountain we really liked to photograph, the J.C. Nichols Memorial Fountain. Unfortunately it was a really bright day and we had forgotten our polarizing filter at home which probably would have helped a lot. As such, we couldn't get the really cool fountain shots. It was disappointing because we had the tripod with and everything! We had to settle for just "stopping the action" instead of showing the movement.

We stayed there and just hung out for a few hours, before heading to Arthur Bryant's for lunch. It was a rather disappointing meal.

After lunch, we went downtown to the Steamboat Arabia Museum. We took the guided tour which was really fascinating. The Steamboat Arabia hit a snag in the Missouri River and sunk in 1856. In 1988, a family located it in a field (river flow change), dug it up, preserved all the artifacts, and founded this museum. The quantity of items was astounding. Since the boat was carrying supplies there were hundreds of boots, hats, bottles, tools, and fine China preserved. It was a very interesting exhibit.

We then returned to our hotel to take a nap before taking the shuttle to Kauffman Stadium. We got there a little after 5, and spent some time walking around and getting food. We found a hot dog stand with some exotic hot dogs. I got the Kansas City Dog and Adam got the Mexican themed Diego Dog. I can't remember what was all on Adam's, but he said it was the messiest hot dog he'd ever had. Mine was Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Boulevard (a local brew) mustard. It was delicious.

Yummy hot dogs!
It was another warm game - 92 degrees at the 6:10 game time. This time we didn't have any rude fans harassing us, so it was a much better experience! Plus the Twins won AGAIN! 7-2. It was really fun.

Casilla had a great night!
