Empty Nesters - Chester is on vacation

My daily themed posts are being pre-empted by much more interesting things going on with us. At least I like to think they're more interesting.

As many of you know, we went to Kansas City for a long weekend. Chester couldn't come with, so the plan was for him to stay with my parents for the week. It's his own little vacation. Since my mom has off of school for the summer, she was just begging for him to stay for a week. This was the perfect opportunity. It became even more perfect when Adam's parents decided they were going to visit my parents in La Crescent for the weekend. Thus they were able to save my parents and us some extra driving and take him down there for us.

After passing Obedience 1, we dropped Chester off at Adam's parents. I was already missing the little guy, but knew he'd have a great time. He stayed overnight at Curt and Robin's that night, and then made the journey to La Crescent with them on Friday afternoon. He is staying with my family the rest of the week.

We've been hearing from our parents how well behaved Chester is being. He even has the run of the house! Apparently he didn't make a peep on the car ride, contrast this with the frequent whining we deal with, and ate his food right away, instead of having to be coaxed to eat it. Adam and I have a theory that he thinks, "Maybe if I'm good, I'll get my mom and dad back! See, I ate my food. Do I get my mom and dad now?"

We've only been back since Sunday night, but already it's so quiet and lonely without him. When Adam was at softball, I hardly knew what to do with myself. I just wanted to play with my puppy! I can't wait for him to come back on Friday. It's already marked on my calendar!

Chester passed Obedience 1 with flying colors!!! He may look HUGE in this picture, but he's only 12 lbs.
