After TwinsFest, I dropped Kelly off at her apartment, and then headed home with
Christine to pack up the car and pick up Adam and Chester. We were
running a bit late as the Buxton line messed up our plans, so didn't get
on the road until 6:30.
In Roch, we picked up Erbs & Gerbs, and
were to my parents around 9. Adam still wasn't feeling well, so I got to
drive. The roads weren't horrible, but they weren't great because of
all the black ice.
Sunday, we enjoyed sleeping in. My
dad made corned beef hash for brunch, which was delicious. We mostly
lounged and worked on dad's speech all day. At 5, we headed to the
Aquinas Founder's Day Awards at the Radisson. Dad won the Distinguished
Alumnus Award. Lots of my family was there, so it was nice to see them.
It
was a lovely program, and Mary Jo and Shawn did a great job introducing
dad.
Dad's speech went very well, and he got a lot of laughs.
I'm so
glad we were able to join the family for this as I know it meant a lot
to my dad.
However, it made for a long day Monday for
us. We got up early and were on the road by 7. The roads back were
supposed to be treacherous, so we took the river road. I dropped Adam
off at work at 9:30, dropped Chester and our stuff off at home + got
ready, and then dropped Christine off at her dorm and helped carry her
stuff up. I made it to work by 11:30. I'm so grateful my job is flexible
and allowed me to do this!
