On Saturday morning, Chester let us both sleep in for once! He stayed in bed until almost 9! I made us a healthy breakfast of Butterfinger shakes, and then we started our canning adventure.
First, we roasted tomatillos from our garden with garlic and poblano peppers for a green salsa.
Our second canning project was pickled garlic. It was a bit more time consuming than we anticipated, but will be worth it.
Hopefully they both turn out great. Too bad we won't know for another month!
That night, we picked up my sister to go to Amaluna by Cirque du Soleil. It was under the blue and yellow big top tent set up in the parking lot at MOA. Before the show at 8, we stopped at Target to get her a new backpack, and then grab dinner at Chipotle.
The show was pretty good. I wouldn't say it was my favorite Cirque show, but it had some cool parts.
The loose premise was The Tempest, but like most Cirque shows it was not all that clear what was happening in the storyline. But you don't go to a Cirque show for the storyline. As usual though, there was a super annoying narrator type character.
Sunday Adam and I went to the failtastic Vikings game. They played horribly against another 1-3 team. I enjoyed booing a lot. It was cool to see Cam Newton play in person though - "pound cake, French fries."
The new NFL bag rule is so stupid. Luckily Aunt Carey made me a small regulation sized bag with Vikings fabric. It was perfect for my phone, ID, and Chapstick.
We tried out the panoramic feature on our new phones. Pretty cool!
By the bitter end, the stadium was pretty empty. Final score was 35-10. Which actually sounds closer than it was because the Vikings scored a touchdown at the end against Carolina's back-ups.
Back at home, Adam mowed the lawn while Chester and I did some housework. We made some yummy chicken wild rice soup for dinner and then settled in for the season premiere of The Walking Dead. Oh how we love that creepy show!
