This was our first weekend in a while where we were home and didn't really have to do anything. It was glorious!
Friday
night we relaxed after work and then headed over to Caitlin and
Russell's to celebrate Caitlin's birthday. We hung out there for a
while, and then a big group of us walked over to Ward 6. It's a really
neat new bar/restaurant. We had drinks (only 1 for me since I was
driving home!) and we split poutine. It's kind of our thing. It was
pretty good. Someone else at our table got a Reuben, which looked
delicious. We decided we need to go back sometime to try that. I found a
new drink that I like as well - Tincho. It's Argentinian and consist of
slightly sparkling white wine on ice with a lime squeeze. Yum!
Around
11:30, we walked back to the house and hung out for another hour or so.
We were exhausted by the time we got home at 1! We're not used to
staying up that late anymore!
Our errand day was Saturday. We
went to Target, Home Depot, Jo-Ann and PetSmart to pick up a few things
before having burgers for lunch at Five Guys. It was a beautiful day, so
we enjoyed eating out on the patio!
Back at home, we had
planned to grill pizzas for dinner, but when making the dough Adam
discovered a maggot in the flour. Nasty! We threw it all out, and since
that was the only bag we had, we went to Plan B. Shrimp. We grilled some
delicious shrimp, broccoli with a lemon butter sauce, and garlic bread.
It was very good!
Sitting out on the patio with a cold beverage while the grill heated up was lovely.
I brought the camera out and took a bunch of photos of our flower garden. My new rose bush is doing really well. I love it!
The new Everlasting Summer Hydrangea on the side of the house is thriving as well. Maybe the third time is the charm? I hope so...
And the "rogue" dill is everywhere. We haven't planted dill in over two years, yet it keeps coming back!
And of course lots of Chester. The cute little dude!
The head tilt -
That night, we finally watched the Netflix movie that we've been sitting on for over a month. It's not even worth mentioning the name. It wasn't very good. I'm glad we finally had time to watch it though.
Sleeping
in was glorious on Sunday!
At noon, we loaded up the boat and headed
over to Lake Gervais to do some fishing. Unfortunately, we didn't catch a
thing! I spent the majority of the time reading, which was perfect for
me. I needed a hat to block the sun, so grabbed my cowboy hat from Wyoming out of storage. I felt a little goofy but it worked great!
We loaded up the boat and were back home by 4 to relax with puggy and make
dinner before our show, The Killing. A relaxing weekend was just what we needed!
