Chester loved being outside. Though there was a scary incident. I was by the fence trimming some vines and I thought he was right behind me on his tie out since I had just checked on him. Adam was over by the house grilling. All of a sudden, I hear Adam calling me from the driveway and he's holding Chester. A very naked Chester. I look down, and there's Chester's harness, still clipped and attached to his tie-out. He had somehow weaseled his way out of it and followed Adam towards the house. Luckily, he chose to follow Adam instead of wander off somewhere. It was really scary!
As you've probably already noticed from all the photos, I've really been enjoying my flower garden this year. I planted these lilies last year, and they bloomed for the first time this year.
We left for Adam's parents' cabin at 9 on Thursday morning, and were there by 11. We stayed until Saturday afternoon and had a great time. We enjoyed jet skiing on the lake,
hanging out at the dock since the pontoon wasn't working (it was a bummer, but meant Chester could come with on Friday!),

On the way home, we made a quick stop in Alpha for malts and cheese curds.
Back at home, I was determined to start my gallery wall project that I've been talking about for 2+ years. Adam helped me drag down all my picture frames, and I worked on putting photos in them.
Sunday, I continued the project by tracing on newspaper and craft paper outlines of the frames I wanted to use. I then labeled them with the type of frame (black, white, silver, wood) and photo inside. Lastly, I marked where the nail to hang them should go. Here you can see my labels and the black dot for the nail hole.
Then we pulled the couch out from the wall and I went to work hanging up my templates with painter's tape (so the paint on the wall wouldn't be wrecked). It was so easy! I wanted it to look eclectic, so the spacing isn't uniform and I tried to spread the different frame types around.
Once I had decided on my configuration,
Adam helped by hammering in all the nails,
while Chester curled up on the man chair to watch.
Next, Adam took off the templates as I handed him the proper frame and he hung it up. We started from the top and went left to right.
Chester was a very good supervisor!
I LOVE how it turned out. Adam was a bit skeptical of this project, but I think he likes it as well. We have such tall ceilings on the first floor that the big empty wall needed something big. Previously we had two large canvas prints there.
The hardest part was narrowing down what photos and items I wanted to use. For now it includes quite a few wedding photos, but those can be switched out easily. In addition to various photos, it includes
- the coin project I did earlier this year from our travels (which I can continue to add to)
- a print of a Cliffs of Moher painting we bought there
- the article about our wedding from the Wedding Magazine
- my favorite Humphrey cartoon autographed by Humphrey for Chester
- a print of a painting of Target Field
- a piece of fabric from the 1880s rocking chair we got reupholstered
- a print of Van Gogh's Sunflowers from the National Gallery in London that I bought when I studied abroad there
- two cartoons from Imagerie d'Epinal that my sister gave us (they were actually from the wrapping of the large print she gave us framed elsewhere)
- a print of Les Invalides in Paris from an old book
