We had a nice low-key weekend at home, which is especially welcome in the chaotic summertime.
Adam's on summer hours at work (four 9 hour days, 1/2 day on Friday), so
he enjoyed going fishing with a work friend Friday afternoon. They had
pretty good luck and he even caught his first fish on the bait caster - a
largemouth bass.
As for me, I ran some errands after work and then hung out with Chester
until Adam got home. We were feeling lazy and it was way too hot to cook
dinner, so we ordered some Savoy's Pizza - pepperoni and jalepenos. YUM!
On Saturday, Adam and I took the boat out on Lake Phalen. It was a fun
time, but sadly we didn't catch anything. And I was all ready too with
my new red ultra light pole from Adam. It was freakishly hot out, but
nice and breezy on the lake.
Back at home, we relaxed and then made meatballs. Since again, it was so
warm, we grilled them! This time they turned out way better than prior
attempts. The trick was to freeze them for half an hour, and then use a
spatula to flip them on the grill so they wouldn't stick. They were
delicious and had a wonderful smoky flavor.
Sunday was just another day at home. We both got a lot of work done around the house, and Chester enjoyed having us around. We attempted to watch the Mad Men finale, but fifteen minutes in a rather inopportune storm caused the satellite to go out. Ugh. What awful timing.
